State Champion!
Junior Emmie Finley is the 2023 GIAA- AAA State Champion in Shot Put! Emmie also finished 3rd in Discus.
Two other Lakeview athletes made it to the state podium (Top 8): TJ Blackwell placed 2nd in the Long Jump and Tristan Buffington placed 5th in the Long Jump.

State-Bound Region Champions!
The varsity boys soccer team finished their season undefeated in the region and is the GIAA-AAA District 4 Region Champion. The Lions outscored their opponents 36-9. State playoffs begin in Savannah against St. Andrews on Saturday, May 6 at 6 pm.
The girls soccer team (# 9 seed) qualified for their eighth straight trip to the postseason. They play (#8) Brookwood School in Thomasville on Monday, May 1 at 5:00 pm. If they win, they will play St. Andrews on Saturday, May 6 at 4 pm.
The varsity boys baseball team travels to Dominion Christian in Marietta on Monday, May 1 for a doubleheader beginning at 4 pm in the first round of the state playoffs.

Anniston Smathers was crowned the 2023 May Queen. Her escort was Bennett Kilroy. Excellence in Teaching Winners Announced
This year's Beth Grindle Excellence in Teaching Award winners are Nichole Mingo (Lower School), Patia Anaya (Middle School), and Teresa Hughes (Upper School). The award is presented annually to a teacher from each division who is an excellent teacher, collegial, and active in professional development. |
Varsity Robotics Team Competes at FIRST World Championship
The Galactic Lions represented Lakeview well at the FIRST World Championship in Houston, rising as high as 5th place and settling in 28th place in the Edison Division of FIRST Tech Challenge. While there, students made valuable connections with other teams from around the world sharing tips and learning new techniques to be implemented in the future. Additionally, junior Lara Martins de Oliveira, received the “You Inspire Me” award. Each judge can select a single student for the award.
The team visited Space Center Houston, including a tour of the Apollo Mission Control room, and took in a Houston Astros game.

eSports Team Places 6th in Eastern US Region
The eSports teams had a great finish to their season. The Mario Kart team ended the regular season placing 6th out of 231 teams in the Eastern Region. They advanced to the top-32 round of playoffs. They had an overall match record of 8-2.
The Super Smash team ended the regular season 23rd out of 167 teams in the Eastern Region. They also advanced to the top-32 round of playoffs. They had an overall match record of 7-3.

Our first-year Splatoon 3 team ended the regular season in 99th out of 190 teams in the Eastern Region. They had a match record of 4-4. |
Golf Team Finishes Winning Season
Congratulations to our REGION CHAMPION golf team on a great season that saw both our boys and girls teams qualify and play at state. In addition, the boys golf team was the runner-up for the Hall County golf championship.
Individually, Tanner Stephens was the Hall County Male Golfer of the Year and the Hall County individual champion. He also made the All-Region Team, along with Carter Kontur. Chandler Lovell was the individual region champion.

Clay Target Information Meeting
The clay target team is open to male and female students in grades 8-12. A meeting for returning and interested participants will be Thursday, May 4 at 4 pm in the Bagwell. Interested students should attend with a parent. |
