The Emotional and Social Health Needs of Gen Z

Members of Generation Z — typically defined as those born from the mid-1990s to the early 2010s — have little to no memory of a life without smartphones or access to the internet. They have also grown up in a world where social media, political polarization, racial unrest, school shootings, and climate change are ever-present realities.

All of that turmoil and uncertainty is affecting their mental health, with 70% of teenagers across genders, races, and socioeconomic status reporting anxiety and depression as major problems among their peers, according to the Pew Research Center. Continue reading in "Counseling Today."
