Lions Head to the World Robotics Championship

 
Lakeview’s varsity robotics team won the Innovate Award  Saturday at the Georgia FTC State Tournament recognizing the team that has an innovative and creative robot design. The Galactic Lions also placed 2nd for the Inspire award, the tournament’s top award recognizing teams that best embody the ‘challenge’ of the FIRST Tech Challenge program. Because of their Inspire award placement, the team advances to the FIRST World Championship joining hundreds of teams from around the world in Houston, TX, in April. Congratulations!

Lady Lions Advance to State Final Four

 
The varsity girls basketball team beat John Milledge Academy Friday night in the second round of the GIAA Class 3A state tournament.  The Lions play Deerfield-Windsor School in the semi-finals at 7:30 pm Wednesday at the University of West Georgia.

All Aboard Wednesday's Spirit Bus

Ride the spirit bus Wednesday (departing Lakeview at 3 pm) to cheer on the Lady Lions in the final four in Carrollton. Students, teachers, parents - anyone who wishes may ride! Bring money for dinner along the way and admission to the game.
 
NOTE: Students in Lower and Middle School must be accompanied by a parent.

Did you Know Lakeview Has a Bass Fishing Team?

The team finished strong in the B.A.S.S. GHSA Bass Fishing State Championship. Congratulations to Joe Lawson, Riley Lawson, Jacob Mathis, Kendall Mathis,  Eliza Norton, and Jacob Norton. In their first competition, Eliza and Kendall finished 11th out of 98 boats, just one spot short of qualifying for the National Championship.

The boys' basketball team concluded their season at Saturday's state Elite 8 playoff game against St. Andrews School that ended in St. Andrews favor. Lakeview finished as region runner-up and were the third Lakeview boys' team to make it to the state Elite 8.
 
We look forward to seeing the Lions play next year!

Half-Day for Upper School Students Next Week

Tuesday, March 7th will be a half-day for Upper School students as they participate in the following:
  • 9th grade —  Community service 
  • 10th grade —  PreACT administered in classrooms
  • 11th grade —  ACT administered in classrooms
  • 12th grade —  Community service
Students will be dismissed at the conclusion of testing/service projects (about 12:30 pm).

2023-2024 Academic Calendar

Next year's school calendar is available. Important dates include:
  • August 14, 2023 - first day of school
  • May 23, 2024 - last day of school

Submit Your Child's Artwork by March 11

The annual Youth Art Month is an exhibition for kindergarten through 12th grade students sponsored by the Quinlan Visual Arts Center, the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville, and Brenau University. Students will compete for honors and college scholarships.
